About Planhuis
Why we want to help you plan and optimise
Why Planhuis
Proper planning pays off. When planners manage to get the daily planning sorted, scheduled employees are more satisfied, clients or patients receive better service, and organisations save time and money. The reality, however, is that planners often have to evaluate or implement new software features, cover for a sick colleague, or handle a seasonal peak on their own, all while the daily planning pressure keeps running.
Proper planning is not necessarily optimal planning. There needs to be enough time and head space to regularly look for improvements. That time is often lacking, because planning is a daily race that is often only just finished in time as it is. Even if there is room for an optimisation project, it tends to proceed, despite the best intentions, without taking in account the planners themselves or the feedback of scheduled persons. Planners get the extra workload, but rarely get a say in the improvements themselves.
Planhuis was rooted in this reality. Not to tell organisations what they are doing wrong, but to stand beside them, with experienced planning experts who work alongside, think alongside, and help alongside. Without a predetermined solution, without an imposed methodology. Hands-on, with a fresh perspective, while taking into account the context in which planning takes place, including the input, frustrations and ideas of all stakeholders involved.
The people behind Planhuis

Jan Vandenhout, Planhuis partner
Planning & optimisation expert
“As a Business Engineer (specialisation Operations Research), I gained nearly 25 years of experience at ORTEC, the global market leader in planning software and optimisation. I implemented routing and workforce planning systems at more than 100 companies across a wide range of sectors. Time and again, I saw things go wrong during implementation. Not because of the quality of the software, but because of the complexity of the process: incomplete data, poor collaboration, and planners overwhelmed by daily tasks while simultaneously selecting, learning, and configuring a new tool. This frequently led to frustration, burnout, or simply suboptimal use of expensive planning systems.”

Yvonne Grimmon, Planhuis partner
Process & service design expert
“Having a background in marketing, copywriting and service design, I have worked across many sectors on projects where critical analysis and attention to the customer, user, reader and other stakeholders was essential. Although they are critical, these perspectives are often overlooked when developing products, services, and processes. My experience in service design taught me how to analyse processes and workflows without bias, map the needs of all stakeholders, and develop solutions in a co-creative way. This serves me well when supporting organisations that want to improve their planning processes.”
How does Planhuis work?
We approach customers with an open mind, and without a predetermined solution. No software to sell, no methodology to impose. We start from your context and propose an approach tailored to your situation, your people, your processes.
We take a broad view: a planning outcome affects more than just the planner. It impacts management, colleagues from other departments, the people being scheduled (drivers, technicians, nurses…) and ultimately the end client (retailer, individual, patient…).
That broad perspective, combined with real planning and optimisation expertise and process knowledge, is what sets Planhuis apart.
